Chris Parker Edzordzi Sefogah (MEGBORNA) is a Ghanaian interdisciplinary artist, poet, musician, and writer whose work braids African spirituality, sonic memory, and Anlo-Eʋe knowledge systems into performance, sound, and sculptural installation. Born in Anloga in Ghana’s Volta Region, he is completing his MFA in Painting and Sculpture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he was awarded Gold in the 2024 Vice Chancellor’s Student Excellence Award for Outstanding Creative Art Student.

At the heart of his practice is the genre he developed, Afro Spiritual Groove; a philosophy and mode of creation that fuses Anlo-Eʋe rhythms, chants, and sonic rituals with contemporary performance and processional strategies. Through it, MEGBORNA reanimates ritual and memory, transforming reclaimed objects such as stools, tables, and utensils into conduits of ancestral presence, and reanimating ancestral presence in civic spaces. His work treats performance as a communal ritual, an act of healing, resistance, and cultural continuity.
His practice in general is what the artist calls, The Sound Practice.

His major works trace this trajectory: Sound Stories (2022), Te Ƒe Ɣli (2023), Echoes of Play: The Symphony of Occurrences (2024) explored sound as public memory; MI DU NU ƔLI HAWO: A Dinner of Sounds (2025) activated the genealogies of meals and ingredients as sonic memory; and DZODUDU: Pathways of Ancestral Fire (2025) transformed public space into a civic ritual embodying ancestral presence. Installations such as The Triptych: SASRAŋGBE ƔLI WO, AGBA GBAGBÃ ƔLIWO, and 555 ƑE AKPE EVE ME ƔLIWO (2025) reimagine sound archives of conflict, cuisine, and media into shrines of collective remembrance.

Beyond the studio, MEGBORNA anchors his practice in community. He is founder of the ADEGBO Foundation, a cultural archival hub and artist residing space in Anloga; initiator of the Hakpanya Collective, which preserves Eʋe traditions through collaborative music; and co-founder of AFA NE AFA, a Ghanaian duo weaving Anlo-Eʋe and Akan sonic traditions into new cultural coexistence.
He established The Shrine, a free sound studio at KNUST, and The Soundhouse in Anloga, providing open access to recording and cultural preservation, the former in KNUST, and the latter at his hometown. His cultural initiatives further include the annual MEVA HOGBE Experience, a three-day festival held during Hogbetsotso Zã, and Ƒedzi Zã, an annual Afro-Spiritual music gathering.
Volume 1 of his forthcoming cultural preservation project, WHUGBE: Anlo-Eʋe Drum Packs, documents, archives and make available for producers and cultural practicioners, drums, drum language, and packs, loops, and rhythms of the Anlo-Eʋes.

His creative output spans across media: five studio albums (Le Mordzi upcoming, Vayina with Hakpanya Collective [2024], AFA NE AFA [2024] with the Ghanaian duo AFA NE AFA, MEGBORNA – The Journey [2022], and Agoo – Silver Words [2017]), more than seventy audio works, a 2022 comic strip – 6 Hours to 6th March, and Alkébulan (a mobile game, 2019–2021).
His exhibitions include Sound Stories (2022), Echoes of Play: The Symphony of Occurrences (2024), MI DU NU ƔLI HAWO : A Dinner of Sounds (2025), and DZODUDU: Pathways of Ancestral Fire (2025), alongside curatorial projects like Ɔkɔtɔ Nwɔ Anomaa (2025) and Enter the Bio-Morphic Presence (2025).

A 2023 OneBeat Ghana Fellow, 2024 OneBeat Accelerator recipient, 2025 Prince Claus Seed Awardee, and two-time Kofi Anyidoho Spoken Word Award winner, MEGBORNA has also been part of international residencies and fellowships including the West African Writers Residency (Library of Africa & African Diaspora, 2023) and PerfoCraze International Artist Residency (2022). He continues to expand Afro Spiritual Groove as both philosophy and practice, forging pathways where ancestral memory, ecology, and contemporary expression converge, amplifying the resonances of African spirituality for global futures.
